Newborn session with THREE older sisters

It’s not everyday that I get to photograph a family of six. Well two of my closest friends each are families of six, so I guess I could do so frequently if I worked at it. However, this newborn session involved THREE older sisters.  Every one of them was head over heels in love with their youngest and adorable sibling.

Mom and Dad have the coolest names for their kiddos. All have to do with the outdoors.  I photographed Miss Meadow with mom's favorites and with my ever essential floral additions sprinkled in.

The Design Consult

As many of you know, I go to my clients homes for the design consult. Mom knew she'd loved to have updated images of all the girls on the wall that flowed together.  In an effort to stay aligned with their love of the outdoors, we took portraits of each older sibling as well with my floral backdrop.

There was a portrait of the family above the fireplace that only had a few of the girls in it. It was definitely time to update with everyone! The fireplace separated the living room and kitchen, so whichever side we hung something, it was going to be enjoyed on a regular basis. This is super important to me as a mom and photographer. Bringing you joy with your portraits on a regular basis is the entire reason I do what I do. I'm pretty sure mom and I both teared up after I installed the artwork.  It's perfect for the space and will be loved for so many years. Mom's favorite picture of the girls was originally a horizontal image, but a vertical was absolutely needed for the space. A little photoshop magic got us exactly what the framing needed.

We delayed installation for a bit because they were getting the living room painted. This brightened up the space SO much. We had planned on the backlit image to bring some brightness to the kitchen, but the paint choice was spot on.

Sidenote: I was in love with the color of her walls- turns out they chose my favorite white ever: Snowbound by Sherwin Williams. My entire studio and living room are this color!

Three older sisters... all head over heels for their newborn sister

Luckily, all of the girls were so excited to interact with their sister and participate in pictures. Honestly, I put the girls where I wanted them (in front of the light wall or on the bed) and then their interactions were so genuine and joyful they made my job so easy. Between the sibling and family pictures, we had our work cut out choosing favorites. We got there though, and the album is gorgeous. One may wonder how a session will go with three older sisters ages ranging from newborn to seven, but I have to say. The magic we created is something I hope they love forever.
