Gemma at 1 week, 6 months, and her first birthday
By now, you’ve gathered I have a daughter, Gemma Marie. My life. My pride. This little ball of fire graced us with her arrival (albeit a week late) March 2013 and brought so much light to my life I didn’t know was missing. She’s humbled and frustrated me, made me cry tears of happiness and doubt my parenting skills many times. But my heavens, who knew the joy a child can bring along with a myriad of emotions.
Gemma is a cuddly, mischievous, spunky, sweet, and caring 1 year old. Her loves include most foods, her blankie, sleepy time, her kitty & Gigi, Tangled, and of course, her mommy and daddy. She has been the main subject of my camera since she was born. Every idea I’ve conceived, I’ve tried to execute using her as my model. And let me tell you how fun it is to have a little girl when you’re a photographer. I perpetually want to dress her up or stick her in a prop. It worked beautifully until she started walking. GAME OVER.
Some ideas have turned out beautifully while others have been failures . Because of her though, I have grown immensely in my love for photography. Her patience with me and willingness to play in the studio has been such a blessing, and I’ll treasure not only the images, but the memories in years to come. Because of this willingness, I have grown so much this past year (the studio only came to be in December). I can’t wait for your family to be the next ones featured on my blog & gallery.
That’s all for Gemma, but I’m sure this is not the last time she will grace my blog. What is your favorite picture of your child ever taken… by you or a professional? This is mine (did I mention she’s a dead ringer for my husband)? You’ll see this image everywhere since its my favorite of all time so far!
