Rachel made me think outside my standard first birthday session a little bit. Oh man, I'm so glad she did. Since the girls had recently turned one and had already smashed cakes at their birthday party, she proposed something different: milk baths!
In full disclosure, I had never done a milk bath before. They are becoming more and more popular, but it never occurred to me to do one in my studio. So a plan developed. One with shimmery milky water, greenery and flower, and two adorable twin girls
With every one year session, we incorporate one to two outfits. Gracie & Lola were so easy that we got three outfits in, a milk bath, and then a quick splash session for the girls. Originally, we had planned on doing separate milk baths for the girls to avoid any fighting in the water. But since I had the perfect tub for the girls to sit in together with the gorgeous floral backdrop, I practically insisted we at least try to put them in together. The results were one year olds being one year olds. Sweet, sassy, smiley, and playful. All the great things that make one year old little girls pretty special.
Needless to say, I'm so glad Rachel challenged me to do something new with the milk baths. I had been feeling really restless this winter and looking forward to spring and getting outside more. This definitely scratched the creative itch I was having. I'm looking forward to spring, but in the meantime, I think milk bath mini sessions are on the agenda! We'll be able to do them for the little girls (pictures to come soon) as well as the kiddos/babes that'll sit in a tub. I can't wait to do more of these!
