The Parent Pose (and why it’s a must)

Hey momma (and daddy),

I know that you’re not at your most comfortable right now.  If you’re looking for a newborn photographer, you’re probably pretty pregnant, or just had a baby.  First of all- it is never too early to book your newborn session, but since I typically do these sessions within baby’s first three weeks, you could be quickly approaching the nest window if your baby is already here.

Anyways, I want to talk about including you with baby in the session.  I know if baby has siblings you want that picture, that’s absolutely a given.  But you NEED to get in the picture.  This is such an aaaamazing (albeit exhausting) time but you’re baby will only be a newborn for a few short weeks, and what better way to look back on this time but to genuinely enjoy the connection you feel with your spouse and your infant.

I’ve had to convince quite a few of you along the way.  But not once has it ever been regretted.  Those images become FAVORITES.  I know you aren’t feeling the best in the west right now.  Birthing a baby and the weeks that follow are ones that are fraught with sleeplessness, worry about your baby’s weight gain, breast and recovering pain, and speculation if you’re child will sleep anywhere besides your chest.  But it is also filled with late night cuddles that make you wish they never grow up and ease the exhaustion.

So momma, get in the picture.  Ask grandma or a friend to come over if you need a few minutes to have a few minutes to yourself to get ready, and the get in front of my camera with your growing family.  I promise you won’t regret it.
